My Blog Got Erased

I don't know what happened, but all of a sudden I looked to post a comment on Townhall, and Rightmindedmom was gone.  I'm not sure if this will go on my blog posts or not, so this is a test.

What's happening?

OK.  I guess my blog isn't gone.  I was kinda scared there.  Now I have another blog that's a duplicate, which I would like to erase, but I don't know how to do that.  OK, Nee, help me out if you're out there.  These changes are confusing me, and I don't know which way is up.  I guess I'll just have to play with it and see how it goes.

A few thoughts and hopes...

OK.  My guy, Mitt Romney has pulled out of the race, despite my eloquent pleadings here on my Townhall blog (just kidding).  What does a true Conservative do now?  Do we line up behind John McCain because "he's much better than Hillary or Obama in the White house"?  Maybe...but not yet.  I guess I want to see who wins the Democrat nomination first.  Why?  Because Hillary Clinton in the White House as President is a truly scary thought.  This woman is a Socialist to her core -- and backed by an anarchist, George Soros, to boot:

1) Hillary's quotes about "taking those oil profits" and giving them to causes that she deems fit -- redistribution of wealth -- SCARY!! (cue music from The Twilight Zone)

2) Hillary's ideas about garnishing wages, sanctioning employers -- for the unspeakable crime of not paying for health insurance -- once again, SCARY!!

3) Hillary's many scandals from her nefarious ties to the Rose Law Firm and the Whitewater land deal, to the firing of the White House travel office employees so she could employ her friends, to the absconding of the FBI files of her enemies, to trashing and stealing furniture when leaving the White House -- ALL DISRESPECT THE OFFICE OF THE PRESIDENCY, making her the worst candidate the Democrats could put up.  Maybe Obama could point these obvious character flaws of hers out to the public, and remind Democrats what a corrupt individual she is...???

Now...Obama, being the freshman Senator from Illinois, with only three years in the Senate, I believe, could be more easily persuaded to listen to Republicans.  If not, the Clintons, after being beaten by Obama for the nomination, would NOT COOPERATE with a President Obama -- fracturing Democrats just as Republicans are now fractured -- making Obama a reincarnation of Jimmy Carter in 1976.  After 4 years of a disastrous presidency by Obama, like Carter, the Conservatives could rise up and finally get behind Mitt Romney, and Mitt Romney could sweep into office in 2012 in a landslide.

No, I think that if Hillary Clinton gets the nomination, I will have to once again, hold my nose and vote for John McCain -- BUT if Barak Obama wins the nomination, I'll write in Mitt Romney, Obama will OBLITERATE McCain in the general election, and we will have a Democrat President for at least four years.

Let me know what you think of my theory.

I don't want to get...

...my hopes up, but I've been scoring recent (the last 3 days' worth) polls, and it looks like Mitt Romney is rising in Florida.  This is wonderful news for me and my other "Mittens" -- a term Rush Limbaugh coined this week, for women who are solidly behind, if not smitten with Mitt Romney.  We don't have that irrational, idol worship kind of support however, like Democrat women had for Bubba in '92, but there are real, solid reasons that I think many women admire Mitt Romney.   Let me see if I can list them:

1)  Mitt Romney is a wonderful family man, with a beautiful wife of 38 years -- his high school sweetheart -- and five adoring sons, who are all working on their dad's Presidential campaign.  He also has 10 grandchildren.  This is a SOLID family, with wonderful values and a squeaky clean image.
     a. The Clinton team will HATE that, because in comparison, the Clinton marriage is a sham and a mess.

2)  Mitt Romney looks "Presidential".  He has the rhetorical gifts of Ronald Reagan, the movie star looks of Michael Douglas in "An American President" (just check out that movie.  I know.  It's a leftie movie, and was the inspiration for "The West Wing", BUT I was struck at how "President Andrew Shepherd" resembled Mitt Romney), and he has the MOST executive experience of ANYONE -- mostly in the business world.  NO ONE IN EITHER PARTY HAS HIS BUSINESS EXPERIENCE.

3)  Mitt Romney is a PROVEN LEADER -- in business and in government.  He lead the 2002 Winter Olympics to a successful outcome, less than 4 months after September 11, 2001.

4)  I just LOOOOVE his website commercials -- on Mittromney.com.  The 3.47 minute web ad called "This is the Story" is TRULY INSPIRING.  If you want chills down your spine, go there, and check it out.

5)  Mitt Romney has received support from one of my FAVORITE right wing writers -- Ann Coulter.  I guess Rush could call her a "mitten" too.  If Ann Coulter can come around, so can ALL of us Conservative women.

OK, CONSERVATIVE WOMEN -- JOIN THE MITTENS.  MITT ROMNEY IS THE ONE.  LET'S GET BEHIND HIS CAMPAIGN TO BECOME THE 44TH PRESIDENT OF THE U.S.

Evangelicals UNITE

I consider myself a practical woman.  I try to weigh situations, and think of what is the best decision for the moment.

For instance -- for Christmas this year, I wasn't into receiving anything like jewelry or clothes -- I'd rather pick these things out myself.  What I really needed was a larger trash can for my kitchen.  So that's what I told my husband and children that I wanted.  I know.  Goofy.  But practical.  I also think that cash or gift cards are great gifts, because you never can go wrong...the recipient can buy what fits their needs, with your cash or your gift card.

Which brings me to the topic at hand...our Republican choice for President.  I weighed the options as a Conservative Evangelical Lutheran -- and I looked at the candidates' records and achievements...and I came up with my choice of Mitt Romney.  I know, he's a Mormon, and their religion is kinda weird -- but I'm not choosing the president of my Lutheran Synod -- I'm choosing a President of the United States.

Mitt Romney has the experience in business that I can really get behind.  This man has been the president of Bain Capital, which invested in fledgling companies and turned them around to become successes.  Staples is one such company -- and judging from the fact that an arena in LA is named the "Staples Center", I think Staples has become a phenomenal success -- due to Mitt Romney's company, Bain Capital.  Bain has done this for many other companies as well, while Mitt Romney was president.  Mitt Romney also turned around a corrupt and in-the-red Salt Lake City Olympics, to where it became the success that it did -- a winter Olympics that the USA can be proud of.  My relatives in Michigan need to know this, and vote in their primary for the man who has a RECORD of turning struggling businesses around.  I think he could help Michigan with his expertise, and work with their Democrat government as best he can, to turn their economy around.

But, there's another reason I think Mitt Romney is best for Michigan AND our country -- his integrity.  Many Conservative posters and bloggers at Townhall seem to think that Mitt changing his mind on the abortion issue makes him a "flip-flopper".  Mitt changed his position while Governor of Massachusetts TO THE RIGHT POSITION.  He is a man of his word.  He won't change it back.  I believe this, because of the way he has lived his family life.  He has been married to his high school sweetheart, Ann for over 35 years.  He has 5 strapping sons, who are devoted to him.  He didn't take a paycheck for his work with the Salt Lake City Olympics.  AND the LAST and biggest proof of Mitt Romney's integrity is the story of the business partner's missing 14-year-old daughter:

The background, as I understand it, is that his 14-year-old daughter went to New York City, attended a party, and was missing for 3 days after that.  Mitt Romney, while president of Bain Capital, closed Bain down, moved everyone to New York, set up a command post at a hotel near LaGuardia airport, hired a private investigation team, and vowed to find the daughter of his friend.  They worked day and night, posting flyers, and sending out bulletins via TV and radio, looking for the man's daughter.  A boy who was at the party that the daughter had attended, called the 800 number that was set up, and his anonymous call led investigators to a house, where the daughter was going through ecstacy withdrawal.  Apparently, the doctors said that she wouldn't have survived another day.  Watch the commercial, made by the girl's father, and former partner of Mitt Romney:

...and as for standing up for traditional marriage -- here's another link:
http://mitt-tv.mittromney.com/?showid=32996

The man has integrity, character, and can run the biggest business in the world -- the United States of America.  He is my choice.  I hope he is the choice of all who read this here.

IT'S ABOUT TIME

IT'S ABOUT TIME...a Presidential candidate gave a speech on faith and freedom in this country.  If you are a Conservative and a regular Townhall reader, you owe it to yourself to read and/or listen to Mitt Romney's speech on Thursday, 12/6.  Before this speech I had already decided to vote for Romney in the Primary, but now I am more sure than ever, that I have made the right choice.  I had doubts about him especially after Gregg Jackson's scathing article appeared in Townhall.com a few weeks ago, but I am convinced that the man is the right choice and that Gregg Jackson is wrong.  I think the leftists in the Main Stream Media are incorrect in their assessment that "he only mentioned the word 'Mormon' once" or "he didn't include atheists".  Hello...the speech wasn't about ATHEISTS, it was about FAITH IN GOD, and how we as a free people in a free nation are FREE TO WORSHIP GOD AS WE BELIEVE.

This is the man we have been waiting for, Conservatives.  We have been pining for a strong man of conviction, who is a man of faith and a strong believer of freedom of Religion in this country.  This is the man who spoke about the FOUNDATION OF OUR COUNTRY -- HOW THIS GREAT COUNTRY WAS FOUNDED ON FREEDOM OF RELIGION.  This is the man who can beat the Democrat nominee, whoever that is.  This is the man who can push back the creep and scourge of Socialism that the Democrats have so misguidedly embraced.  This is the man that can bring back that feeling of pride in being an American...that Ronald Reagan-like feeling.

Other candidates just don't have it -- the charisma, the articulate speech, the strong family values, the proven fiscal Conservatism that Mitt Romney has.  This man is the whole package.  He is the right choice.  He's not perfect, but he's a better choice than Rudy, Huckabee, or even Fred Thompson (who I thought was the Conservative choice, but has been a disappointment).  Mitt Romney is our man, and hopefully, the choice for the next Republican President.

Say it Aint So, John!

PM John Howard of Australia concedes defeat in election:  Say it ain't so, John!  This is the one world leader, in my opinion, who has been even more of a staunch ally in the GWOT than even Tony Blair in England.  His "Free to leave" speech in 2006 was nothing short of brilliant, and I only wish some of our Republican candidates for President would have the cajones that he did, in delivering that speech.

When it seems that old Europe -- namely, France and Germany -- are going more conservative, other countries are electing labor party leaders -- Australia and England -- who are more socialistic in their ideas.  Let's hope that these countries remain steadfast in their support for the fight against Islamic Jihadism, for it is the fight for our very survival and way of life that we are fighting for.

Recently in Iraq, the tide has turned toward free government.  Let us all pray for continued success in that part of the world, and a vindication for our President's foreign policy -- which had been under assault since the Iraq invasion of 2003.   Afghanistan rarely makes the news, unless things heat up in the fight against the Jihadists.  In both places, John Howard has been a staunch ally of the United States and our President, supporting him against the onslaught of Islamic jihadists.  Howard had his own battles with terrorism in Bali and East Timor in his part of the world, so has had first hand knowledge of the battle that is ongoing in our lifetime.  Let us pray that his successor will fight with the same tenacity and courage that PM Howard has.

Good luck in your new life, John Howard, and may God bless you!

Receiving recruiting letters

My daughter already has received two recruiting letters from Universities in Minnesota -- One from St. Olaf College, and one from the University of Minnesota.  I'm not sure what happened, but maybe they received her PSAT scores?  Is that possible already?  Or do they just send to random Honor Roll students from good academic high schools?  Does anyone know???

Anyhow,  she's just a JUNIOR, so this is already filling me with anxiety...and she said to me, "Mom...you already know I want to go to Madison.  I don't want to go to a University in Minnesota."  She hasn't taken her SATs or ACTs yet.  I think that will happen in May or something.  To solidify her belief/desire, she took another trip to Camp Randall stadium in Madison, to see her high school play in the Wisconsin Division 3 state championship game last week -- which they WON!  Yay!!

In any case, I'm one of those moms that wants my daughter to experience life without going off the deep end, and hanging out with the wrong crowd.  So far, in high school, she has found some solid, grounded, good friends to socialize with, and I thank God for that.  I hope that whatever University she ends up attending, some of her good high school friends will be with her.

I have much to be thankful to God for, on this Thanksgiving Eve, and I wish that everyone who reads this has a safe and happy Holiday.

Parenting is tough

...Tough, but rewarding.

Let me first tell you that I'm a 40-something woman with a husband and two kids -- my daughter, who is 16 and beginning to interest the boys around her  (This has my husband in a panic, because HE was a 16-year-old boy once), and my son, who is 13 and in 8th grade.

Just because my daughter is going through many of the things that I went through as a teenager, and because I can see SO MUCH of myself in her (which is really scary, because  sometimes I think she's a virtual clone of me), I can relate better to her than my son.  This poses problems because my son is constantly accusing me of favoring her, and I have to sometimes compensate for that by spending alone time with him.  My husband does all the sports things with him, because he's in Jr. League football and grade school basketball, so while I am there to support my son, the male support comes from his dad.

The one thing that I've found I can share with my son is my somewhat small but influential (to him, at least) political activism.  I'm a regular listener of Rush Limbaugh and others on talk radio, and I took my son to 2 Bush rallys in Milwaukee in 2004.  One of them was even on a school day, and I pulled him out of school to attend it with me.  He has formed some very Conservative ideas and ideals, and that makes me very proud and happy that he'll grow up to be a fine young man.  His teacher in school remarks how knowlegable he is in current events, and how he (my son) can even spar with adults on many subjects that are in the news.

My husband and I have been fortunate to send our kids to Christian schools, so we don't have to worry about them being taught by teachers who don't share our values.  Sure, tuition is expensive, but WORTH IT.  Hey, my daughter is 16 and doesn't have a boyfriend yet (even though she is a very pretty girl), and my son is in sports and likes talk radio.  These teenage years are tough, but so far, so good.  I thank God EVERY DAY that my children are well adjusted and intelligent, and if things keep going the way that they are, they'll turn out to be happy, productive adults.

The only problem I see looming in the future, is that my daughter's college wish is to attend UW - Madison -- the most left-leaning university in the Midwest.  I hope her Christian high school teachers as well as our rearing at home, can keep her from turning into a raving lefty, if she gets into UW.

Any parenting advice from any of you, would be appreciated.

Let's Be Optimists

Let's Be Optimists

On Townhall and other Conservative venues, I keep reading pessimism about the upcoming 2008 elections -- how Hillary Clinton is SURE to become the next American President.

Hold your horses, partner.  There are many reasons to be OPTIMISTIC.  Let me see if I can remember them all:

1) In the Democrat (I refuse to say Democratic) field, there is not ONE top-tier candidate with Executive experience:  Not Hillary, not Obama, not Edwards -- (who has always struck me as a sleazy snake oil salesman type).  These Senators and former senators have 1 of 100 votes, and have NO EXECUTIVE AUTHORITY OR EXPERIENCE.  Qualifications:  Zero, in my book.

2) Hillary has a 49% DISSAPROVAL rating...Let's examine that.  49 PERCENT OF ALL ELIGIBLE VOTERS POLLED SAID THEY'D NEVER VOTE FOR HER.  Consider that her husband, Bubba, got less than that percentage in both the '92 and '96 elections.

3) The Republican candidates have:  A.  A former mayor of NYC, who turned that city from a corrupt, dirty cesspool of a city, to the cleanest large city in the USA, and also a man who was a hero on 9/11 and after;  B.  A former Governor of a state who's Supreme Court legalized same-sex marriage, and who fought (unsuccessfully, however) with the State legislature to allow same-sex marriage to be voted on in a referendum by the people -- not to be legalized by a bunch of judges; also who took a failed Olympics in Salt Lake City, which was corrupt and losing money, into a successful enterprise to look back on with pride; also who started an investment company, Bain Capital, which is now a Billion Dollar company;  C. A southern state Senator who was also a lawyer during the Watergate hearings, and also an actor with a flair for down-home coloquialisms.

All three of these front-runners are better qualified than ANY Democrat -- although, Romney has more experience in an executive position fighting against Lefties than the others.

4) All 3 of these Republican candidates could RUN RINGS AROUND HILLARY IN A DEBATE -- ESPECIALLY ROMNEY OR RUDY.  Whichever is the nominee could also use sound-bites of her speeches, and play them in ads, to show how much of a SOCIALIST SHE IS.

5) Dream ticket -- In My Humble Opinion (IMHO) -- Romney/Thompson:  The executive experience of Romney, and the down-home Southern charm of Thompson.  This ticket would WIN in the General Election.  Then Rudy Guliani could be appointed Attorney General in a Romney administration.  -- WOULDN'T THAT BE A KICK-A88 ADMINISTRATION!!

Out of control Hollywood

Is it just me, or do you find Hollywood more and more obsessed with these out of control twenty-somethings, who move in and out of rehab?  I'm speaking of Britney, Lindsay, Paris, and Nicole, and their ilk.  What is it about these vacuous airheads that we are supposed to be interested in?  OK, so when at their best, (especially in Britney and Lindsay's cases) these young women CAN exhibit some talent, but SO WHAT!  I think other young actresses such as Mandy Moore, Rachel McAdams and Reese Witherspoon are just as or more talented, and you don't find those girls all coked-up and headed yet again, for rehab.

We, as parents, should talk to our teenagers and younger, about how these rehab girls are NOT role models, and how they are ones to point to when you want to see how messed up you can become when you are too young to handle the mega-millions along with the mega-spotlight.  We all seem to think that lots of money will make us happy, but does anyone really think that Britney,Lindsay , or Paris are happy?

Just my 2 cents.
